Mate,

It means "HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low".

See this page: http://www.myscantool.com/dtc/powertrain.html

HO2S means "heated oxygen (O2) sensor".

Have you fitted extractors?

Once you fit extractors, even with so-called extenders fitted to the rear two oxygen sensor bungs most people get similar error codes, I got them all the time and so did/does Foozrcool.

But these code codes never caused me or Fooz a problem other than being annoying, our engines ran perfectly OK.

If you haven't fitted extractors, then at the very worst it means one of your O2 sensors is on the blink, or on the way out.

Best bet then is to take it into a dealer and get them to check with a MUTT3 reader.

If one or more of your oxygen sensors need renewing it's a relatively east DIY job.

But the OEM sensors are not cheap.

Or you can do like I did and buy much cheaper (but still high quality) generic sensors via Fleabay, it's just that they are 'cut & shut' which means a bit of mucking about fitting them.

Plenty of threads about 380 O2 sensors, extractors etc.

do you have any other errors like saying its lean on bank 1 or 2? You've got 4 o2 sensors in a 380 n while swapping out the front 2 are easy the back 2 are more of a pain to get to. if you do and don't know what bank is what. bank 1 is firewall side and bank 2 is radiator side.

Nah just p0031 ....i dno what sensor...and yeh got full exhaust n extractors...same code b4 i got the exhaust done....only came once a week or so....so im guessing the sensor...and we had to lengthen the wires....

Do u know tge exact sensor it would be and will drivibg the car with this fault code cause damage to my motor?? Gota wait 5days till my mechanic can take my car

Thanks

It is primary sensor on rear bank. Wksp manual says most likely faulty connector - especially I would guess if you cut and lengthened the wiring

OEM are about $105, or can buy generic form Bosch online - maybe better if you need longer wires anyway

Yeh this code came once every week or 2 with my standard exhaust system, same code all the time, just as soon as i put the full custom exhaust it came up straight away and the same code....My mechanic is going to replace the sensor, but cant do it for a few days, my question is will this cuase me any engine damage will driving with this faulty sensor??

Thanks

Probably not.

As I said before, me & Fooz got/get up to six of the these O2 "heated circuit" error codes constantly. As fast as we clear them they come up again, usually within 20k of driving after clearing. But never a hint of any problem with how the car ran/runs or any effect on fuel economy. I just can't remember if P0031 was one of the codes I used to get. Going by memory I used to get P0056, P0156, P0160 and P0161 all the time.

Probably not.

QUOTE]

If the primary sensor faulty or disconnected car goes into open loop fuel control - just uses inbuilt ECU fuel map with no fine trimming by the Oxy sensor - ie closed loop mode

Will use a bit more fuel as open loop is biased a bit rich

Yeh i fixed the problem, new camshaft oil seal...that was my oil leak

And my front o2 sensors where stuffed not the back ones, we needed to extend the wires but needed to be done at a profesional auto electriction to measure the voltage is correct after lengthening ...for the livo exhaust extrqactors which im loving atm but a bit to loud.....but yeh problem solved

thanks guys
