Guys, I was wondering if someone might direct me to an outfit selling new bonnet liners for a 1990 TP 2.6 EFI.
There was an outfit in Canberra selling them but am unable to find them on the net now.
Thanks.

i would try a motor trimmer
most of the ones in the wreckers are oil soaked or torn
its just cardboard and insulating type sandwich construction
the hardest thing to find is good clips

Thanks for that.
I've been on the phone to a few places and one sounds promising. The chap, Jeff, said call back in about seven or eight weeks and they might have one made by then.
TrueFit 1800-335-896. I think he said they were in Dandenong.
So we might be onto a winner. I glanced at the clips yesterday and they are the wire type. So they may even go back in for a second innings.

I've seen a first gen Magna catch fire because the bonnet liner had deteriorated and drooped down onto the exhaust system. Luckily the car had just parked and someone had a fire extinguisher. I owned a TP that I repainted white and never put that liner back on with no subsequent problems, so either use a good one or don't use one at all. I guess it is there to dampen engine noises and as a heat shield, a dark metallic bonnet wouldn't look good after a few months of no heat shield. A heat insulating spray on material on the underside of the bonnet above the exhaust system and cylinder head may be an option.

I'm just gob-smacked how people can drive a car in such bad repair and then it actually catches fire when they are in it. Unbelievable.
There's that adhesive stuff that looks like it would do the job. It get's a fairly good review from people who have installed it; so that might be worth a look.
And thanks for the story. Any you're correct in saying put in good stuff or don't have any.

let us know how you go
I cant find a supplier or maker of bonnet liners ... for any car today online .
. I do not know where to look ..only a wrecker or a motor trimmer
the bonnet liner is made of something like cardboard and insulation material in a sandwich composition

I visited Tru-fit today and they will not be making a bonnet liner for a TP etc unless they have enough people ordering. they have a universal one that you need to cut to size, it looks pretty good. I also ordered a dash pad
