Okay,
So a few years back I put in a Boss kit and after market steering wheel and ever since there has been a bit of slack in my steering and I can rattle the steering a tiny bit left and right without causing the steering to move..

I didn't think much of it but I've been told this needs to be looked into...anyone got any ideas?

Did the size of the steering wheel change? usually it varies depending if bigger or smaller.

Yeah it went down in size, not sure on exact measurements but smaller than the stock wheel size.

I had this problem. I tried another boss kit and it had the same issue. I fixed it simply by tightening the nut on the boss kit as hard as I could.
I hope I never have to take the thing off!

Same thing happened to me many moons ago with my TM Magna. Aftermarket steering wheel ended up so loose one day that it turned in my hands without effecting the steering! A real brown trousers moment. I fixed it by using a rubber mallet to hammer the boss tight onto the spline, and then doing up the central nut as tight as I possibly could. Plenty of stories on these forums about how hard it is to remove a Magna steering wheel, and that's because the spline it tapered and the wheel nut is torqued RFT to really push the boss hard onto the spline. I used a wheel brace, one of the X shaped ones, and I think the central nut was/is 17mm. So fix it before your steering gets more than a bit slack and you end up with no steering at all.
