Hi Magna Owners. Last night my magna - which had run wonderfully - started shaking and blowing lots of white smoke. It's currently in a mechanics at Redfern, I expect they'll say it's blown a gasket.

I've been calling around wreckers in advance and they are offering 250 pick up. Just after some advice or ideas. Due to personal circumstances doing the work myself is not really feasible.

Should i be getting more if I give it to a wreckers? Completely lost when it comes to hese kind of things.

Thanks in advance

That is standard scrap value and is not a bad scrap price given scrap metal prices are low at the moment

Why would you not just spend around $1100 and get a new motor. It is unusual for these to blow a head gasket so must have been really hot before the issue started.

Often it is cheaper to fix what you have instead of getting a new car as you know little about the new car where as with this car you would know what you have so unless it is a real heap I would suggest a good used motor to be fitted

Thanks for your reply. There is some paint damage to the bonnet and roof. As to the engine problem the only noticable issue was a strong petrol smell when the tank was low? I'll post more when i hear from the mechanic.

Did car get hot or did it use any coolant
