I'm keen to mount a 2-way radio in my KF Rada Xi, can people tell me where the best place to fit it would be, or post up some pictures.

I use a Realistic HTX-100 which is a 10m amateur bnd 27-29Mhz radio, which is similar in size to a car stereo head-unit, only longer, with a large heatsink on the back, if that helps.

Thanks in advance,

I mounted mine when I had one of the left side of the console, it did interfere with the front seat if I ever wanted to bring it a long way forward but I felt it was a compromise I was happy with. I used Velcro for the mike cleaning the area with metho before hand and letting the velcro stick on and settle for a day or so before using it and I sold it with the Velcro still on the dash.

Look at installing it under the radio if you have a single din radio.

If not, I've been meaning to install it in the centre console by trimming the box

Thanks both of you. KF Xi has a double din radio, though my CD-stacker in the boot is giving me an E-99 error so I might be ditching the double din radio for a single din unit with integral CD player. There would be space under that but I need to check the depth of the HTX-100. Amateur radios have a bit more too them than CBs... I might be in luck so thanks for both ideas.

I mounted mine in the glove box, out of sight, and is controlled via the handset. Though I am looking to move it to the boot and get an extension to run the handset from the center console.

Not a Verada, but a TE:

Aside from the mount in the DIN slot under the stereo, one unit is mounted above the ECU and another is under the passenger seat.

Radios use to be my job, HF, UHF, VHF, SATCOM operating both ground and air variants in plain or cryptographic. Had to have Secret clearance to use the gear. It was fun job.

On my CB, I just use a short range aerial.

My aerial i use on the Magna is just a simple heavy duty stainless steel 4.5Db whip just on a Z bracket and a normal uhf base. It might not be attractive but for general repeater work around where i live i have found it to be a great combination. with all this being said just bear in mind i run around 40 watt output not the legal 5 watts though
