TP_Wagon back again, trying to diagnose another issue. 2.6 EFI auto.
This time I've got a hesitation that only occurs under load at around 1500rpm. The car bucks around that point. If you fall below that or push beyond shes fine.
Tried it whilst in idle, no signs of the "hesitation".
hmmmm.... I'm expecting something electrical, although its only failing at that rpm - however it makes travelling in peak hour traffic annoying.
Any thoughts?

try the maf first .......personal experience
the thing inside the air filter
it has a few functions for the efi system
check wiring connections to it
post again if you have oil in the filter canister there is a quick fix
check rubber seal and is the air filter clean
bucking around is one of its symptoms
which repair manual do you have
should find this stuff in" emmisions and engine control "chapter
do you have a led tester and volt meter
there is a diagnostic plug in the engine bay for testing the efi system
other possibles
the tps adjustment
idle stepper motor
dont remember if you changed the fuel filter

Great, will have a look this weekend.
I changed the air filter awhile ago, but it was doing that before I changed it so no difference there. I've got a cleaning product for the MAF will see if that helps and check wiring too. Fuel filter was also recently changed too. Don't have a manual (would be useful I guess :)
Might have led tester, definitely have a multimeter - I saw and read about the diagnostic plug on another post so will give that a try as well.

Thanks Magna Buff!
Pulled the air cleaner and checked the MAF unit. I did find a bit of oil in the air filter which I cleaned out. I also cleaned the MAF unit with some MAF spray as it had oil through it.
Car runs really smooth now, big difference. No more jerking around, funny to think that would have such an influence. Wish I'd done it sooner!

ok buy a cheap plastic inline fuel filter (a few bucks from super cheap )
cut the line between the air filter and the hose connection on the engine
flow arrow goes towards filter
the fuel filter will catch all the oil going down that line no more oil problem
but the reason for the oil being in the air filter in the first place ..needs more investigation
if the fuel filter fitted becomes milky or frothy make a thread
