alrites, i blew one a sub and now i dont have bass.. its depressing driving along with this treble joke system. Anybody have any suggestions for a replacement set up?
I have a 800w Rockford Fosgate Amp (400s), and i have a 2 X 12"" custom box and one working 400w fosgate HE 12".
Im guessen ill most likely sell the sub because i cant buy the same sub from anywhere and it would probably sound crap unless the subs were the same model.
Would a single 12 inch dual coil sub work well with my set up? or would another 2 12's be alot louder? What are some good suggestions to get some bass back? i can spend around 300-600 bucks. I want quality and something close to the bass volume i got with my 2 12" HE's.
Thanks in advance for your help palz.

Before anyone can accurately recommend you a subwoofer we need to know what you listen too and how much power you have available.
Subs I tend to recommend include:
Hertz
Image Dynamics
Diamond
Phoenix Gold
Digital Designs
Vibe
DynAudio
Rainbow
JL Audio
Morel
Boston
Etc... :)

i listen to all sorts of music, but mainly eminem, techno...
ive decided to go with a single sub set up, if i were to buy a dual coil sub do i simply connect one channel to each coil?
thanks again
Unfortunately most amplifiers are not balanced enough to connect each channel to each voice coil and the result will be quite nasty for your subwoofer over time. Remember numerous voice coils only offer more wiring configuration option, they have nothing to do with power handling ability.
For the music styles you listen to I would recommend:
Hertz
Image Dynamics
Phoenix Gold
Digital Designs
Vibe
JL Audio
Boston

Buy a decent sub with Dual 4 ohm coil, parallel them up (2 ohm) but MAKE SURE your amp is 2 ohm stable.
PG is a pretty damn good brand..

yah its the plan for me, good 12" DVC 4ohm wired in parrallel with a big monoblock running at 2ohm :)
ive tried afew brands of subs alpine, kicker comp, sony and i could never get the sound i wanted. i highly recommend an eclipse 12 inch. great price for great quality. sounded **** at first but after 3weeks it was brocken in and this thing pumps throughout my TF. sounds great with rap, hip hop, rnb and awsome with techno. 1 sub does the job but for the price they come for its worth running two to double the thrill.
ECLIPSE is the new alpine and ive compared my 12inch to my mates alpine Stype and the eclipse wins hands down with a much nicer bass. ECLIPSE is taking over in the states and winning all the shows. Ask any audio dealer what they recommend .....youll be suprised how much alpine is 2nd best.

I've been running a JL 12W3 in my car for the past ~3 years and I'm very impressed with the sound :)

i was thinking about buying a single dual coil fosgate. i have an 800w fosgate amp (2x 400) so would a 1000w dual coil sub be the way to go?
eclipse aye? how much? u sound like u listen to the same kinda music as i do.. anybody else like eclipse? i might have a listen because my mate has type S alpine and i love them.
Make sure you audition them all first and then get the brand you like best dude. I don't personally like Eclipse at all, you might. It's a personal thing. There is very little use in making a decision based on what either I or anybody else say about the actual sound of speakers.

i'm running hertz its good i guess.
hmm...yeah, i went to audition cheapo brands like sony, pioneer, jbl, mtx, kenwood, the round kicker one etc...
i ended up purchasing the mtx, despite it not having the best reputation

Powerplant subs certainly do pump hard! the 12" can take a lot of punishment
Not nearly as much as something like an Image Dynamics IDMAX12 or DD9512. :D:D

my mate has got a 15 inch powerplant sub running off the 4 channel powerplant amp. It certainly has got some bass, although i havent compared it to another 15 inch sub so i cant comment really.
I did put it in my car for a day and it sure did pump harder than my 12" soundstream

yeah... i know better subs exist, but those subs would cost significantly more than 280 dollars wouldnt they?
im talking about bang for buck here. not the ultimate dream sub!

Why $280 why not $300 :D
Hertz entry level subs can be had for that, same with JL, boston etc.

cool, thats the kind of info im after.. will those brands (boston, hertz ect) $300 subs out perform the fusion powerplant or is it more of a personal choice? i listen to rap music and techno so id lean towards the sub that better suited that.

Don't overlook the Response subs, I've got a 10 inch dual voice coil 250 watt RMS sub and Im very happy with the way it performs, being powered by a ~250 watt response amp, very good bass at a very good price.
My 2 cents.
