The windscreen trim, at the top of the windscreen got whipped off at 110 ks on the Hume, coming into Melbourne.
Didn't stop and get it as a few cars ran right over the top of it. C'est la vie.

As a couple of the plastic retaining clips are busted, can new ones be fitted without removing the windscreen? I can't quite figure out the way they sit in there.

And I found a bonnet liner at TruFit in Melbourne.

Nope, the clips are pinned to the body work and mostly covered by the adhesive the glass is held in by. Cutting the adhesive away to get access can damage the screen and start a crack. . . . . Don't ask how I know. lol
Get a strip from the wreckers, and glue it down with acid free black silastic. Worked for me anyway.

Just pulled a screen from my spare parts car yesterday before I scrap it and before I did this I removed the clips to save them in case I need them in the future.
The gap at the top is small but if you are careful with a sharp Stanley knife etc you can trim the sealant around the clips and then they slide to one side a fraction and then you gently pull them forward. The pin they are on is like a flat top nail head. If you are not confident a windscreen fitter can replace the clips for you. Quite a common task for them.
The most important thing is to not cut into your paintwork (even the pros get it wrong sometimes) seen several cars that have had windscreens replaced and then rust appear a couple of years later as they have cut into the paint with the removal tool they use!!! Not good. Goodluck! Vee

And when he says "be careful" he really means it!
I managed to nick the edge of the screen (TS) doing this, set off a crack in the outer glass layer that slowly, over a week or two, travelled the full width of the screen, top to bottom.
. . . . . I won't repeat the language that occurred during this extended event . . . lol

$250 later, all fixed. Screen had scratches from worn out wiper blades anyway.
