Coming up to rego again, and I'm not sure the tyres will pass this time - I'm having a look around at 2nd hand rims - hard to find 4-stud rims these days (everything is 5).

Are most 4-stud rims similar standard, or are they all different? Should I just consider any mitsu rims like Lancer to fit?

Personally I wouldn't use anything other than Magna rims. Are you in Sydney? If so, try Mitsibits at 16 Norfolk Rd., Greenacre. (N.B. they are not open on weekends) Whenever I went there, I always saw plenty of 1st gen rims and tyres, including Elite mags. Be prepared to haggle. Torcu Tyres is just a couple of doors away at No. 8. They will sell and fit used tyres to your own rims or just fit them for you if bought elsewhere.

I will have more to say about tyres later in another thread as I had dramas with mine a couple of days ago.

Was going through some old 1st gen ride threads and found that the ch lancer shares the same stud pattern as the first gen magna.

Middle of last year I bought 4 Hyundai Elantra Alloys (approx 2003) with near new tyres for $350 at a wrecker with chrome nuts included.
They fit the 1st gen beautifully and are 15 Inch with slightly lower profile tyre so the speedo is correct.
Only job I had to do was the skim the plastic centre caps to remove most of the raised Hyundai logo and then fill over the top and respray with matching silver. They look very good on the wagon and no problems in 20,000km since and rotated them this morning. Vee

I also had come hyundai mags on my 1st gen magna, had picked em all up from a wreckers off a newish wrecked hyundai, also got a full sized new spare out of it as well. can't recall what model hyundai though. oh and as above i think older nissan (pintara maybe) had 4 bolts and same size rims

Just FYI:
I had some spare tyres on rims (japanese), and needed to put one of them on the TP. However, even though the stud pattern was identical, the curvature and shape of the disc part which connects the tyre rim to the hub part was different, but not by very much. I was able to mount the tyre on the axle (front) but the wheel wouldn't turn cos it was jammed on the edge of the brake caliper. So even though stud pattern can be OK, there may be shape differences to stuff things up.
For what its worth.

Rumpfy bolt pattern is not the only thing you have to have correct you also have to have the correct or close to correct offset rims to match your vehicles specs. Otherwise you will run into trouble when turning to full lock and also some handling differences that may not be good.
The good part about certain Hyundai stuff is that they have used Mitsubishi tech in the past and several of their cars have had Mitsi running gear as well as engines. Vee

Are first gens 4x114? if so Silvia rims should fit but not sure on offset or center bore. Stock s13 rims would look pretty good.

Yes first gen are 4x114.3 but S13 are from a rear wheel drive and often they have a much smaller offset but worth a look and see if they fit.
Another important factor i forgot is the size of the bore hole. 67.1 for First gen magna.
You can look up all vehicle specs here: First Gen not present though as an overseas site. Vee

The are a few diffrent size 4 stud rims the most comon is the same as the first gen magnas its 4x114.3 so are most jap cars like 80s toyotas and 80s - 90s nissans etc are all 4x114.3.
But cars like mazda mx5 and mk1 golfs nissan micra honda civic and so on are all 4x100 then theres a few other strange sizes like 4x108 for escorts and 4x110 for early mazdas and really early corollas.

So be thankful as the first gen magnas
Got the most common stud patern. Offset is another question all together
My 1988 wagon has 14 x6 " with 185 tyres with + 15 offset fit perfectly on the back but as they are 2 piece rim there ar little bolts the go around the outside of the rim so those little bolts hit the front brake caliper so they have a 5 mm spacer and clear.

So if I was looking on ebay or gumtree id find a list of cars with the same pcd and then look at the front wheel drive cars as there wheels are most likely to fit as they have a less agressive offset. Also make sure you check the center bore (as long as the wheel bore is larger then the cars then you will be fine)
