Velcro in the engine bay? Surprised that's held up, reckon that may not have been there long whatever it is, as one hot day the glue on that will just melt off. Some aftermarket electronic module.

What does the dial on the black box say? Mine has controller for electronic braking in that spot below-left steering column which is similar.

That dial may be the bass controller for the sub that is/was there. We installed one in a friends car a couple of weeks ago and the bass controller looked exactly the same as that dial

Tried that funny thing two wires one to pos one to neg battery other goes around to opposite side and is earthed that's all the wires thinking GPS unit going to open up tom see what's inside

That round thing on the front look quite a lot like a piezo screamer, ie. a very loud speaker. Methinks an alarm of some sort.

If the dial on the inside has a Telephone cord type plug, its most likely a bass controller.... If the front pushes in like a switch, it definately isnt.....
