I want to reset my automatic transmission ECU and follow the re-learn procedure after doing a fluid flush.
I've searched a number of threads on this forum which has confused me.
Could someone please clarify the following points?:
How long to disconnect battery to reset A/T ECU
Will this affect my keyless entry or key programming
Will I need to enter ECU settings at the console
Thanks

Disconnect for 30 sec or longer.
(Some people say to hit the brakes a few times with the battery disconnected to "drain" electricity out of the system with the brake lights, donno about that one. lol)

Need to reset:
A) Trip computer, ie car type "S" or "W", engine size, "3" or "3.5".
B) Car radio code needs to be entered if you have an original.
Plus radio station presets need to be reentered.
C) Clock on the car and radio if radio has one.

Nothing else is affected.

Also, some Magnas refuse to idle properly when battery is reconnected (Some do, some don't). Use your right foot to keep revs up while stationary, and wait for the idle to come good - don't drive it with an unsteady idle, no fun loosing assisted brakes and steering when you take the foot off and the engine stalls.

Hey Madmax, what about when it goes to the other extreme, trying to idle at 1400rpm?

Yes, the Lancers do that after a battery disconnect. Settles down after a minute or so.
