I have to remove my current door (Drivers door) and attach a new one, but I have a few questions about it first.
For a start, Anybody in Newcastle area done this sort of thing before and wants to get paid for giving me a hand?
So I have an 01 TJ exec. Th replacement door is 3rd gen as well, but not exactly the same. It has power windows while mine has a winder.
My first question is, will the electric window still work when I plug everything in? Or will I have to do some sort of conversion over to a manual winder to get the window working?
Similarly, the new door has a red light to indicate an open door (my assumption), so even if the power windows don't work, would that work, as well as the speaker on the door? or are the electronics completely incompatible?
The 2nd major issue I have is with the door handle / the door lock.
Do I have to completely remove the interior of the door to change over the door lock? Or is there some way I can do it from the outside without causing damage to the exterior?
Similarly, will central locking still work for the door in the same way even if it has a different lock on it?
I'm thinking that I might have to unlock the car from the passenger side (I lost the beeper) if I dont change the locks.
3rd question. Is there some way of raising the window glass in the door with the powered window, without electricity going through it? The window is currently down and if the electronics don't work, I would like to have it permanently up, rather than permanently down.
Thankyou.
