I must agree with taniagirl. Even if the eBay ones look good, you discover they are crap once they are installed.
That being said I don't believe taniagirl was referring to this model I have been watching on eBay for a while that I hope to put in my TJ Sports in the near future. :woot:

Most stereos on eBay are dressed up cheap Chinese generic rubbish unlike the above model.

Nexus 7, they're what $200?. Either by itself, or make a mount and put it directly into the double-din section. These things fit quite well in most double-din configurations
Tablets will be the way of the future. They aren't perfect yet (you can't for instance pair your phone and tablet and use it as handsfree device) but what they DO do, they'll do far better than any 'in-car' unit.
GPS is very fast and very accurate. The unit itself is very snappy and responsive, excellent 1920x1200 resolution.
The hardware is rock solid, and its removable if you want to. It just takes a bit of time finding the right software that works best for you.
If you mount it seperately - like I have - you'll still need a head unit. Either bluetooth or 3.5mm input
If you mount it into the dash you'll have to install an amplifier. Nexus 7 goes to the amp via 3.5mm cable, then the speakers wire to the amp. You then have some options for volume control. You can adjust it on the nexus 7 itself but since it would be mounted inside you wouldn't be able to reach the volume rocker so you'll want on-screen volume OR splice in a 2 channel trimpot to control voltage between the nexus 7 and amp
