Pretty simple question. I just murdered my head unit. Looking at the coverage maps, I'm right on the border (but out of the licensing area) for DAB reception.

Is it worth shopping for a head unit with these features now? I'll be replacing my antenna anyway. (Seriously, people keep knocking off my coathangers)

There's a model on eBay I'll be looking at, but can't link on the phone.

I've compared DAB and FM radio on cheap home speakers, and can't hear the difference.
Obviously needs a top of the range home audio system to get the benefits of DAB.
I imagine in a noisy environment like a car, DAB would not perform at its best. Better to do some research into how DAB performs in a car, though.

It's also the additional stations. I like K-pop, shaddup.

If you're looking at future proofing the audio system you should fit a DAB system. I have a Pure Highway which broadcasts on an FM signal which you then tune your existing head unit to the broadcast frequency, it works very well and gives me the benefits of the extra digital channels. If I had to change the head unit I would fit a DAB unit.

One normally fabricates a mount out of Fibreglass...

There is a clarity difference in DAB to ordinary FM, also a lower noise floor ( better silence in the gaps) and better clarity... Not sure how factory speaker would fair tho :/

I like the choice of stations and much less Ads.... I just wish it was broadcast further around the brisbane region...
As long as they have an FM radio as well, it could be worthwhile if its broadcast in your area.... Linky (http://www.digitalradioplus.com.au/index.cfm?page_id=1054)

I'm not convinced about digital yet. I borrowed a car with a fitted DAB radio and it frustrated me. But I'm fascinated with this tablet fitting business going on here!
