Hi All,

For the past 12 months or so, my TJ wagon has been displaying some strange behavior on start. Firstly, the car turns over and fires first time always, without an issue, but about 70-80% of the time, a second or so after it starts, I hear a little "click" from what sounds like behind the dash, and at that instant, the ignition cuts momentarily, and the engine usually dies, and needs to be restarted. Second start this NEVER happens again, it starts and runs beautifully and never misses a beat. If it was idling high on the first start, or like now if I give it a rev when I start, sometimes ignition cuts back in before engine RPM drops completely, ignition catches again, and all is well. I am pretty convinced it's ignition, because of the instant stop/start to the engine firing - doesn't seem like a fuel thing at all. It has not gotten worse over time, just started happening.

Got me stumped, anyone now what might be going on here?

Cheers,

Adam.

Battery, the click is the relay shutting down, there are many many threads on this, get a decent size battery installed and you should fine the issue solved
