I have a TJ2 Magna Sports Sedan, which does not have an illuminated ignition key slot, which makes me sad.
I am planning to swap out the upper dash loom to that of a KJ2 Verada for the purposes of installing a KE Verada Clock (the sexy high quality type) and a Blackout Cluster from a KJ2 Verada.
I thought whilst I'm at it I may as well illuminate my ignition key slot. I believe it is all part of the same loom (please correct me if I'm wrong).
So now for the big question - If I bought a Ignition Switch For Mitsubishi Verada KE KF KH KJ 1996 to 2003 as pictured above, is it a simple case of plug and play?
I have read comments on other threads that claim there are issues with the immobiliser and it can't be done. Is this true?
I did read some posts suggesting a globe could be jerry-rigged to the interior light, but I would rather do it properly as it was meant to be (at least for a Verada).
Please illuminate me with your wisdom. :learn:

has nothing to do with the switch. my tf altera has this from factory and is a globe on a bit of wire connected to a plug.all ignition barrels have a slot and illumination ring for the globe.tthis can be done in two ways to a series 2 car:
1. grab that bit of wire from a verada or a tf altera as mentioned(all ignition barrels have a slot for this) and as i was told will plug straight in to a series 2 loom(as it has the plug already there)
2. snip a bit of a globeholder and a reasonable length of wire(e.g the globeholder that iluminates the ashtray is perfect) and connect it to the plug or to your footwell light plug.

You will find that the TJ2 has the plug for the illuminated ignition as well as both foot well globes as well, these are taped back into the loom
The light is part of the antenna housing, has a slot for the globe, all you need from the KJ is the globe and the little 2 wire loom that comes off this to the plug. You will most likely find the plug and the little bit of wire taped back on your existing loom
Aside from these lights there is little to no benefit of doing a loom change unless yours in an exec with no climate and you are intending to use this as well, the lights are not part of the upper loom but are part of the main loom. The KJ2 cluster is plug and play but if you really want the clock then you do need to swap the upper loom

So it's on the main loom. Cool, then that makes it a lot easier like you mentioned. When I have the dash apart to do the upper loom swap I'll check and see what I have under there...
The upper loom swap was all about the KE Clock (picked one up for $25).
I still need to buy a KJ2 blackout cluster and get my hands on the mysterious upper loom. The blackout cluster you have on eBay at the moment for $149 looks very tempting, but it seems counter intuitive for me to buy a cluster with 109,000km and have the trip meter adjusted to 187,000km for another $100, which is what I have been quote by a place that does it here in Sydney.
I'm still in the market for the upper loom if you happen to have one available at some point.
Thanks for you advice
