Hey all i think i have damaged my roof lining, I am a smoker so the roof lining got pretty filthy, also add the coffe stains, make up stains, grease stains, and you can get the picture it was filthy....

So i looked and looked for cleaning roof lining and found nothing usefull or safe, so i bit the bullet and used bowdens fabra cadbra cleaner, at atuto barn n super cheap.......its aussie made and it says safe for roof lining and alcantra fabic......i followed instructions and worked this product with barley any pressure

This product did actully get rid of these stains and made the lining like and smell brand new.......BUT and a big BUT....it has damaged my lining,

i have random sections of the roof lining where the foam that sits behind the fabric to give it this soft feeling when you touch it, has gone ROCK HARD and looks like someone has really pushed the roof lining with the fingers/fists....i have random LOW spots if that makes sense, i have tried airing it out, light vaccume, light steam, even a hair dryer to help......but it done nothing....and it really looks bad when you look it at......enough to annoy me..

my question is can it be fixed without removing??

if it needs to be retrimmed i will be going for BLACK and vaccume sucked so that the lining does not have the soft touch to it but a rather HARD feeling that is hard to damage and easy to clean if needed

how do you pull apart the lining of a 380 that has a sunroof?? i know the window handles, sun visers and lights, but i am afraid the the pillars and sunroof section

any advice

thanks

word of advice, do not use any form of cleaning to clean the roof lining on these cars...not even a slightyly damp cloth....u will damage the backing

Pics would be good.

Your word of advice should be not to smoke, drink coffee or apply make up while driving ;)

If heat doesnt do it you cant fix it, a heatgun may work but it will shrink the headlining material, re-trimming is the best option.
