Hey everyone,

My 380's paint in some areas is in need of a repaint I was thinking of doing it myself but don't really want to mess it up. The areas needing painting are mainly the front grill its actually started to flake really bad and there's hardly any clear coat left leaving the metallic paint unprotected. The front bumpers fine though and the only other areas are just few bits and pieces that need a touch up. But the roof looks like its starting to fade but isn't flaking or anything like that.

So all in all, mainly just need respray for the grill, touch up on a few small stone chips, and maybe the roof just needs a good cut and polish.

Has any one in the Brisbane area had there 380 painted at all just looking for somewhere reasonably priced and does a decent job.

What colour is your car?
If it is a solid colour that is fading, it will come good with some cutting compound.

"Touching up a few stone chips" to a spray painter, means "respray the whole panel". Not cheap.

My cars more of dark grey metallic colour so it might even cost more for it being metallic paint aswell.
Damn I hope not, that would mean half my car would need a respray haha that definately wont be cheap.

I guess if its going to cost me arm and leg ill probably just live with it and do my best to protect the rest of the paint I guess its one of the downsides to daily highway driving and having no garage for the car to help protect the car from the weather.

I had my bonnet re sprayed storm grey cost me $350 cash job
I have also had roof and top of boot and spoiler due to clear coat failure
Seems storm grey was a problem
The whole top area has been a problem so I assume it's uv causing the problems as side panels are unmarked
My car is undercover at home but open to the sky when at work

But the flipside is that anything short of "respraying most/all of the panel" isn't going to look 100% factory.

Can put you onto a really superb detailer if you would like.

I've had good experiences with Vulture street smash repairs in Brisbane's West End for both my '02 TJ magna (They removed front bumper, repaired all the stone chips & minor damage made by exhaust pipe of vehicle that backed into me) and resprayed the entire bumper. Perfect colour match & factory finish detail & quality. Did this prior to selling my Magna, very happy with the job. $250 cash but that was back in 2006 mind you.

And not long after, my KJ Verada, copped a driver's side graze from an over enthusiastic vehicle swerving into my lane, which required new driver's side door skin, repair of rear door scrape on the bottom end (& replaced the AWD sticker), repaired the driver's side skirting and repaired damage to alloy wheel + badging, clips, trim pieces etc. This was done through insurance & again, perfect colour match and excellent detail & workmanship. Only complaint was that there were some soiled finger marks on the the driver's A frame pillar which were easily removed with a chux wipe & some interior cleaner. But apart from that, very happy with their work and would recommend them based on my experiences even if it was a while ago.

Concord Auto Repairs in Moorooka do good work for a fair price. I work for a dealership and much of our panel work goes to them.

Yeah Id say your right, I have the exact same colour as you, I'm very fortunate as my hood and boot are still really good guess ill just have to keep polishing the car more often for the extra protection.

Yeah that sounds good wouldn't hurt having there details for the future.

And also thanks for the recommendations ill give them a call and see how I go.

$350 - nice!
I'm looking at having my bonnet resprayed as there are way too many stone chips.
Remember where you had yours done?

Also to OP, if you don't want to get it resprayed to stop further damage what about a cut and polished and then waxing regularly. At least you'll get that shine back.
