Had I good search on this one and came up with nothing but hoping someone out there might be able to lend some advice or wise wisdom.

So the story goes I was play around with some new lights behind the dash and a new head unit. All went in nicely and no problem, apart from the new head unit had an iphone cable that hadn't been plugged in properly, so I took the head unit out, plugged everything back in again, except now I have a ticking sound as soon as I turned the accessories on.

Long story short narrowed it down to being something to do with the climate control but stumped as to what.

The ticking noise stops after 20 seconds or so, but comes on periodically while driving (even if the climate control isn't actually on).

Thanks in advance for any help. Really stumped on this one and its starting to drive me nuts.

Cheers, Tom

doubt its anything to do with the climate control panel. Don't believe it has any moving parts anyway
Likely a cable flapping on something. Could be the white hose since it has air going through it

Yeah had a look at that and it seems fine at both ends. The noise seems to be coming from the air conditioning unit behind the head unit

I get it some mornings too, kinda like a clock ticking but not so regular. Generally, dialling the temp up or down a couple of notches shuts it up and it goes away after a minute or two anyway. I've never investigated it, not a big priority, but I'd be interested in the cause.

I have tried adjusting the temperature but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I think you're problem might be the clutch that switches between hot air and cold in the air conditioning box slipping.

Good morning!

I had a similar problem in my Legnum when I had it early last year. It may not be the same issue at all.

It turned out to be the "temperature" servo.. which changes the temperature with a small cog system. One tooth on the cog snapped inside of the servo. I pulled it apart and rotated the cog so the tooth wasn't being utilised and never had an issue again.

Once again this may not be the same issue, but it's there for your info!

Here is the thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99028)

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. From the description yours seems to have been quite loud, whereas mine is very, very quiet, to the point where it is generally 'fixed' by turning the radio on! I'll have a look at the servo/cogs though, out of interest if for no other reason.
