Hi folks, my TL had an issue. Engine temperature is unusually high. It is not in the red zone yet but I never seen the gauge shoots up to 80%. I pop open the bonnet and saw the 2 thermal fans are running as hard as they can but temperature still at 75%. When I rev the engine around 1300 rpm and the gauge runs back down to 55 to 60%, the usual spot. Is this mean the water pump is going? Or is it the sticking thermostat? If I am due for a water pump, how much am I roughly looking at? Thanks.

First things first, is there enough coolant in the system?

Coolant is full, checked every night. No leak.

Best you bring the car in if you can to check, sounds more like thermostat, doubt is water pump. Could be a blocked radiator, thermostat. The car should run in the mid 80's not at 50 or 60.

Thanks for the advice MadMagna. I put the car into a local mechanic and checked. It was a blocked radiator. After a decent flush, it is working like a million dollar. Many thanks and will catch up with you soon. Cheers.
