I have an 88 TN and want to take the head off to do some maintainance. Has anyone got any tips on the job. Just a bit worried about the timing chain.

only trick with the timing chain is that the chain adjuster may or may not have a ratchet lock on it. if it does you have to push down on the lever beside the front of the chain to release it and let it retract, other than that if the tensioner is released or a non locking type then the top sprocket and chain can be lifted and will go back on the cam pretty easily. there is a small plate on the front of the block to stop the cam sprocket and chain dropping into the timing case.
