Hi, I'm new to the forums and need some help.

I have a 97 TF Magna Executive Sedan (1st Mitsubishi I've owned)
Brought it last Saturday off a lady who sat it in the shed 4 years ago because she had 3 other cars.

It has always been serviced and well looked after, was service just prior to being put in the shed.
She took the battery out to put the new one in when she sold it to me, and for some reason its idle sits around 2000.

I had a look on this forum and found out that the computer has to teach itself again, and to leave the car on for 5 mins.
I did that, and the car is still at 2000.

If I could get any help at all, It would be very appreciated.

Does the idle change when you switch on A/C?
Sounds like the idle speed control is non operational. It's situated on the throttle body and adjusts the idle (ie, higher when cold, AC is on etc).

Someone here should know more though

Doesn't have A/C - Apparently it drove fine before she put it in the shed.
It idles at normal in gear, and I cant find any vacuum leaks.

Only since the battery was changed over has it started having this idle issue.

Just in case anyone has this problem, I found the solution online and it is fixed.
This is it:

IDLE SPEED (4-CYLINDER)
Turn ignition on with engine off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Start engine and idle for 30 seconds. Slowly vary engine speed between idle and 3500 RPM 5 times. Return engine to idle.

Good info.
Does anyone know whether this is true for the V6 models too?
