View Full Version : Oil Pressure in TS?

I've got a TS 2.6l in my TP wagon and I've just installed an oil pressure gauge. I got a bit of a shock because when I start up it goes straight to 80PSI. When its warm it idles at 20PSI @ 750rpm but jumps to 87PSI at 2000RPM. At 3000RPM the needle is hard on 100PSI and wont go any further because thats as far as the gauge goes.

Is this normal? If its not what could be causing these kind of pressures...or is it likely my gauge is stuffed (I just bought it).

Thanx

expect higher oil pressure on a cold motor because the oil is thicker. 100kpa is only 14.5 psi.
these pressures would be pretty normal for a worn motor. Your gauge has a pretty limited range, my VL Commodore with a factory oil gauge reads up to 500kpa and will run at about 450kpa when the motor is cold

Just a quick question, where did you mount the pressure sensor?

Im about to buy a few gauges and just curious...

I mounted the sender on a T-piece with in the spot where the stock pressure sensor goes, upper left corner on an astron II, I'll get a pic if you want, I have a thread about this http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8811.

My gauge is in PSI by the way not Kpa, thats why I was concerned about the readings.
