Hi all,

I am in the process of doing the power window retrofit to my TF Exec,
I already have the floor and door looms fitted, and have the dash loom from a TF Altera.

As many have said, it should be a plug and play swap, but I have found that my original BCM ( located near drivers side fusebox ), will not connect to the altera dash loom due to the plug being a different size.
Is it possible to use the bcm from the altera and reprogram it, in the same manner as you would a new remote ?
I did look at doing a re-pin on the bcm plug, but the altera plug has less wires running to it than my exec.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've searched as many power window retrofit queries as I can find on here, but no-one has mentioned any dramas with the bcm not fitting.

Mostly because the retrofits are usually later models.

I believe in the early cars you can swap the modules over without issue as they are not paired with the ECU (that controls the immobilizer). In the TF these just do Central locking.

Also perhaps check the back of the fuse box inside of an extra plug in module as the car may have had ETACS fitted and this could explain the different module.

Make sure your car isn't a TE as well. The TE and TF cars and wiring were different. Which could also explain the plugs.

When I bought the Altera loom, I was assured it was from a TF, but didn't think to ask if it was from a sedan or wagon, not sure how much difference, electrically, there is between the two.

I'll go over my original loom with the multimeter later to see what is required to do a repin of the plug for my TF's BCM.

Cheers

Ok, so the BCM is just the central locking and various functions like key lamps for the ignition etc etc. You can simply install the altera BCM and call it a day.

But if, like you say, the altera is a TE and not a TF, then would I need to change my keyless entry remote to the earlier type ?

Yes.

The difference is all the boot release. The TE doesn't have an electronic boot release at all.

Maybe check with where you got the loom from. If the car has a boot release where the fuel lever is, then its a TE.

Yes, went back to where I bought it and it was from a TE wagon,
but have found a TF Sports sedan that doesn't have p/w but has cruise.
The front door loom plugs on it have more wiring going in than coming out,
so grabbed that , ( others have said if fitted with cruise, then p/w wiring should be there too).
Now just have to put it all back together and test.
Oh and BCM is correct plug on this one, fingers crossed.
