Hi everyone, I've got a 2003 tl magna with a 6 way electric drivers seat, I've just purchased another TL for parts and was wondering if it's possible to fit the electric seat to the passenger side? The drivers seat foam is stuffed so from what I can see my plan is to pretty much swap over the electric runners to the passenger side seat which also involves changing the switches to the opposite side which looks easy enough.. So my question is can it be done? And has anyone done this?
I'm not sure of the exact details but it can be done apparently.
There is a member here that has done this, but in his case he fitted the US export Diamante VRX LH driver's seat onto the the passanger side of his ride. It's posted somewhere in the forums here, perhaps in the technical section.

This was me.
The motors are Handed. Ie, right to left so it isn't a straight swap. The switch is also handed for direction so you have to rewire the seat loom to make it travel in logical directions. I imported a USA drivers seat, stripped it of the memory system and used a selection of the components from a drivers power seat and the passenger seat and my own fabricated harness using factory plugs to make it work. Which it did. But it was a great deal of effort and I would advise you simply to buy an XI passenger chair as you won't be able to make drivers side motors work with the passenger side seat frame.

Well that sucks.. The wiring is the easy part, but it's not costing me anything to play with anyway so may as well have a fiddle abd see if I can come up with anything

Electric seats are great. It's really hard to adjust a seat manually while driving, the electrics make it easy to vary your driving position while on the move.
For the passenger, who can wriggle around as much as he/she likes to get a better seating position without the danger of upsetting the car's stability, it's probably not essential.
My TL has leccy driver's seat, my TJ does not. Love to put one in the TJ, but the passenger seats? Wouldn't bother.
Still, it would be interesting to see if it can be done.

Progress.
Lots of crap! Because it was late, I forgot pretty much that the passenger seat would be completely different wiring wise. Effectively you have to mirror everything as the switch and spare loom pretty much reverses the seat. No dramas, just got to swap everything. Then you have to reverse the limit switches so they dont read incorrectly and stop the wrong tilt motors. YAY. Also you can import the seat base, but will need the foam as well. You will also need a power seat backrest from an aussie car.

Yes, I dyed the entire interior to match the leather.

If the other motors work then you either have something in the tracks, or the motor has jambed.
Check for fuse also

My TL has a power passenger seat. Previous owner installed it. Its not leather so i assume they acquired the seat base from somewhere and swapped it over.
