I know nothing about 1st & 2nd gen. manual gearboxes but a 4 cylinder TR-TS gearbox should fit the TN as it is the same box (KM210, also known on 2nd gens as F5M31 to distinguish it from the F5M33 used with V6 engines). http://mitsipedia.info/index.php?title=KM210

you ask difficult questions dennystone 12

its unusual for the mitsipedia.info to be slightly off with the technical information

no one has made a successful transplant to a TR/TS box ...if it could be done it would be bragged about

from what I read in front of me they wont bolt in without a fight
both boxes are close ... here is what I found out

The good
both bolt onto the 2.6 motor
internal ratios the same final gear higher in the TN 3.411 and TR 4.067
differential ratios N/A
clutch kits appear the same so input spline must be the same cant confirm about the throw out bearings
drive shafts spline counts at hubs N/A

The Bad
outside case design and dimentions differ .. TR/TS engine bay must be a little wider ..dont know for sure
different design in shift selectors/forks and rails internal and external
gear cog bevels and clearence /angles differ inside
speedo is different

The ugly
both boxes have syncro problems

TN_TP drive shafts info N/A

have to find spline count information to be certain

gearbox diffs may not be interchangeable between gearboxes if drive shafts are different

These are TR/TS lengths and specs

Thank you Coldamus and Magnabuff for the imfo, its a tricky one, my TN box is a bit slow getting into 2nd gear, I may try to find a TP gearbox. There are some TN & TP wagons here, cars are rare

Hi Madmax, that will be worth trying, it has 75W-90 at the moment

I found over the years with manual Sigmas and a TP Magna that shift quality varies greatly with different oils. I tried Castrol VMX-M with success, but there are others around that are supposed to be better.

FROM:http://www.castrol.com/castrol/multipleproductsection.do?categoryId=8000016&contentId=7000384
"Mineral transmission and transaxle fluid especially formulated as a factory fill fluid for Mitsubishi vehicles and used in passenger cars, 4WD's and light commercial vehicles. SAE 75W/85, API GL4."

I dont remember if you hail from across the ditch

if its only the second syncro .. you may have some time

what is the asking price of a TP box .. both will fit TN & TP

your option is to source other KM210 boxes when they come up
even if they have problems/broken in some way
and build a complete working one from the parts

Hi Magnabuff, it is 2nd gear that slow to engage, a bit crunchy if pushed. In NZ there are TN-TP wagons, hardly any cars, Ill try changing the oil. We had the 1st model V3000 but I don't think that came as a wagon, so they got the TN-TP wagons from Australia
