I discovered these after market lower front control arms online from a company called Mevotech.
Anyone ever used them, or know anything about how good they are? :ninja:
They claim to be OEM Quality. and at US$87 each they are considerably cheaper then buying from Mitsubishi, which I believe are up around AU$500 each.
The picture doesn't look quite right, but often the pictures are not of the exact product you will be receiving and are just for display purposes or whatever...

I don't think they would work as I believe they are designed for wishbone suspension

So the Diamantes in the USA have different front suspension to an Aussie Magna?

The USDM Diamante and ADM Magna/Verada have the same suspension, as the US versions were produced here in Aus. Only the JDM version got the wishbone as it was produced there.

Yes. I imported front and rear camber kits for my old TJ that were marketed as fitting USDM Diamantes. Like grelise said, only the JDM Diamantes were different.

Very good. :facejump:
So have you every heard about this Mevotech company?
Besides paying the $500 or so at Mitsubishi, are there any good suppliers of front control arms at a reasonable price?
Unfortunately RockAuto doesn't seem to have any available...

If you read the reviews a lot of people had a bad experience with them

I opened that link and what I see for sale are lower left and right rear control arms for 2002 Diamante. MS801008, MS801009. According to the MEVOTECH catalogue that's all they show for Diamante, nothing made for the front.
I jumped on Rock Auto too and only saw rear controls arms also. note that the MEVOTECH ones were there and that's what that link is for. First impression suggests no one makes aftermarket fronts.

I'd hate to think what freight would be, have you got a quote locally?
Genuine they come complete including the large rear bush.

I haven't phoned Mitsubishi locally, but I read on a thread here someone stating a price around the $500 mark each and I found a genuine one online in the USA for about $600. I might phone them but I'll make sure I'm sitting down first.
Amayama price in the links you provided seem reasonable, but it's hard to be confident they will be the right part as the Japanese vehicles had different suspension.

Except that is the US market arm number which was MMAL manufactured and also the same as the MMAL Wagon built here and exported to japan and the same as the MMAL exports to China and other parts.
I'll be surprised if that is not the part number when you confirm with the dealer and there are no other applicable models which share these arms I could see.
The link for the post, someone in there quotes under $500 / pair after trade.
I replaced the lower control arms on my AWD about a year or so ago. With a trade discount from my local Mitsubishi dealer they were about $450 for the pair. They come complete with ball joints and bushings.

$450 for a pair doesn't sound so bad. I guess the best way to know for sure is to phone Mitsubishi.

Yep, takes the guesswork out of it. And maybe get a quote from the other place but at $360 plus freight I'm thinking it'll be line ball or a bit dearer plus you'd have to wait. I'd expect these would be in stock in Australia. You never know but maybe MITSFIX might have a low K set. are yours worn out ?

I paid around $325 each for front lower control arms from the local dealership about 12 months ago - I'd expect them to be cheaper in Sydney or Melbourne (ACT pricing for stuff is often a ripoff due to the limited sourcing options available here  ). I went ahead despite the price as it solved problems I had with ball joints and bushes and minimised the labour cost...

BTW, my understanding is the USDM Diamantes used Verada front lower control arms which have a different rear mounting arrangement from the Magna - Verada style have a nut on the pin I believe, whereas the Magna style don't.

Ok, for starters we have both arms here, one with the nut, one without. The one without the nut is NLA
The prices being quoted are just short of being stupidly funny as I have in the past purchased lower arms from Mits and they were around the $200 mark from memory, they may have gone up a little but certainly not to $500 bucks each!!
Also you need to be aware that the part number in the above post may not be correct, you need to determine what style bushing you have before you start to order parts as you may be shocked when you have paid almost as much if not more with freight for a part and postage only to find it is not right.
