Hey my car has developed this thing of seals/gaskets going bad on the radiator side of the block, first it was my camshaft seal, then the valve cover...

Any now i have spotted oil leaking right from the bottom of the plastic timing cover towards the radiator side....Would this be head gasket or a differnt seal?

The car has 180,000kms of HARD USE but strict servicing every 7,500kms for the first 120,000kms /

And after 120,000kms every 5,000kms/ or every track day

Please has anyone had the head gasket leak and know how much is costed??

Thanks

Not to be a wise guy, what's making you think it's the head gasket?

Are you losing a lot of coolant? Is your coolant or oil milky? Is your car blowing constant white steam out the exhaust even when properly warm?

Is the pressure on your hoses harder then normal? If you can squeeze them slightly while running (use a thick rag so you don't burn yourself) as a leaking head gasket would mix oil with coolant giving your coolant system more pressure.

If you're 100% sure it's a head gasket, then it's probably going to be $1000 minimum for Labour and the parts costs bugger all, depending on the mechanic rates though you can expect to pay up to $2200 realistically all this depends on your mechanics charges, skill and how quickly he can do the job

oil and coolant are fine, i think there might be a split in the gasket that is causing oil to leak outside the gasket

it could damn well be the camshaft seal

public holidayz now, ill just wait till tuesday to give to my mechanic.....im hoping its not the gasket....but we wait and see

Were not both cam seals and the crankshaft seal replaced when the first seal let go? I'd be thinking it would be one of those. Could always remove the top covers and have a look and if there's no oil coming out and running down from up top, then crank seal.

if the leak was not too bad and still passable for an inspection maybe stick it out until the timing belt is due. Otherwise I'd be replacing everything in there if I were doing the seals including all the bearings, tensioner and water pump if it's still original with 180K Ks

These are high quality stainless steel head gaskets....I doubt you've blown one.

Worthwhile checking your PCV valve and associated hoses, in case the crankcase is being pressurised and pushing oil past the seal or pushing the seal out. If that is ok, the seal may have been damaged on installation, new one and for security, some appropriate sealant to hold it in place.

it was camshaft oil seals...replaced under warranty

NOTE: dont use any aftermarket seals or gaskets, stick to OEM
