Hey, i decided to take a peek in my throttle body, and right after the buttery fly there is literally 1-1.5mm of black carbon crap build up...and right before the butter fly there is a fair amount a black crap you can wipe with your fingers,

Has anyone come across this? or know how to clean safely?

I know foam intake/throttle body cleaners are dangerous as it just pushes the crap into the motor,

Any advice?

my car has 180,000kms on it and throttle body has never been cleaned, would it be worth wile taking the intake manifold off and giving it a good scrub down inside with a tooth brush as i did notice the intake manifold inside has a varnish coat of oil and carbon build up??

thanks

Dealer recently told me my car was the same, and recommended I get them to clean it.

Problem is, the cleaning solvent they used was leaked all down through the engine bay.

Do it yourself (or find a good mechanic) if you care about your car.

One thing to note from the manual, Do not allow cleaning solvent to enter the bypass passage. That's the ports you see in front and behind the throttle butterfly. Apparently it can damage the ISC valve.

If you're going to the trouble of removing the intake manifold plenum, you may want to consider if it's also worth doing the rocker cover seal, sparkplug tube seals and the platinum plugs whilst that's off. I'd also get a new plenum / manifold gasket .

Just a note: I did not notice this was 380, but I expect the 6G75 setup is similar to the 6G74.

just cleaned it, easy as piss

x1 can nulon throttle body/carby cleaner $20
x1 old tooth brush
x1 clean rag
x1 brick
x1 10mm

take off intake hose connecting into butterfly with 10mm
turn the car onto ignition but dont start it
put a brick on the accelerator
the butterfly will be open now
spray nulon cleaner liberally
scrub with tooth brush
wipe down
spray again and clean and wipe
put everything back together
take off brick and start car let it idle for a few mins then go for a drive!
