View Full Version : Axxess Steering Wheel Control Install and Radio Reception issue after HU install

Hi,
I've recently installed an aftermarket headunit into my 2007 380GT, Pioneer avh-x3600dab with a reverse camera. I've just purchased the Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Interface but can't get it working correctly.
Can someone help me with the setup and which wires to connect? All I seem to get is a constant red light blinking.
I also seem to have lost my radio reception am/fm just after the install (i was receiving reception for first week after i installed new headunit). I've noticed that when the antenna plug is pressed fully into my new headunit I get no reception on am or fm but if I pull the plug out and just leave it slightly in the hole, on a certain angle i get full reception (hope this makes sense).
I got a hold of a glass mount antenna and temporarily connected it up and got full reception back. I don't want to have to run a new antenna through the car if I can help it.
Thanks for any help, this is really starting to annoy me.

Hi nzlegend87
I have connected the Metra SW to my 2005 380 VRX with Pioneer AVH x8850BT if you haven't download the connection sheet from Axess web site here it is below. You will need to splice into the small 10 pin plug that connected to the OEM stacker 2 wires. I connected the ground wire to the H/U mounting bracket and the power wire to the ACC red wire of the H/U wiring harness. The Metra will auto connect and assign the sw buttons. Just make sure the ground is properly connected to chassis and the red power wire as if it is not the volume will keep going up. learned this the hard way nearly blew my new speakers. It's a bit fiddly getting to the small 10 pin connector but persistence does pay good luck with getting it sorted I hope I have helped a bit.
ASWC-1 Connections
1) Connect the Black wire of the ASWC-1 to chassis ground.
2) Connect the Red wire of the ASWC-1 to a 12-volt accessory wire, one that turns on
and off with the ignition key.
3) Connect the Green/Orange wire of the ASWC-1 to pin 5 of the vehicle. Below is a
picture of what the connector in the vehicle looks like:
This is the pin view of the connector in the vehicle
4) Connect pin 10 of the vehicles harness to chassis ground. You may use the same
chassis ground as the black wire.
5) All other wires on the ASWC-1 please tape up they will not be used.

Cheers mate, worked perfectly. Appreciate the help.
Got the steering wheel controls all setup and working, i'll reprogram the buttons on the weekend to the specifics I want.
The aerial seems to have a fault, even with the stock head unit, so I'll run a new glass mount one to remedy it. Any recommendations on a good brand of aerial to look at?

Glad to here it helped. Enjoy! I never had problems with the radio aerial mine worked from the get go, so yeah sounds like there might be a fault somewhere.
Cheers,

Sounds like faulty connector or broken wire in/near connector - try redoing connector first??
