Hey guys,

I'm traveling australia in my magna wagon. I sleep in it so I like to leave the doors open so I pulled the interior lights fuse. Since then the speed alarm resets itself every couple seconds to 60km. When I'm going over that speed it continues to reset and beeps all the time. If I turn it off in park, once I switch to drive it resets again.

So my question is- is there any way of disabling it permanently?

On another note. I drive an automatic, when shifting gears it revs up then slams into gear. In your experience, Is my tranny going or could it be a dirty/blocked transmission filter? The tranny oil is a bit dirty but at the right level. Haven't had it serviced in a while.

Thanks again guys. Anything helps!

You don't want to be messing around with a dirty tranny, but each to their own I guess

I'll let some of the 'experts in that area' chime in further

That fuse runs a lot of things other than the interior light. Same happens if the fuse blows, a lot of other things stop working or reset too. Why not just switch the light off, or pull the globe out?
Transmission probably needs a flush, or if it high km, it may need replacing. Other things like TPS setting and faulty transmission speed sensors will affect shift quality too. Then agqain, it may just be that fuse you pulled out . . .

Or even sleep with the doors closed, and windows open?

If you can source the power for the lights and put a switch in between to basically let it still power the speed alarm, but stop it short of powering the lights... Or you could interrupt the earth signal as well, but youd have to do it for each switch. Maybe reading a wiring diagram could assist.

Another thought Ive had is to remove the door switches (just the single phillips head screw). Tie a rope to the wiring and tape it somewhere so you can easily re-attach it when your situation changes. In the meanwhile, you can manually operate your interior lights.

The dome light has an auto, off and on position so why not switch it to the off position. Also, I would strongly advise against leaving the door open unless you carry a shotgun. Leave each window down 1cm would be enough and/or have the vent left open.

Thats even a better point! And you could just remove the door card lights for the meanwhile.
