View Full Version : Can you use the rear channel bar as a trolley jacking point?

Problem is that I need to replace the fuel pump on a verada KS sedan.
Access seems to be very limited. The manual suggests I may even need to drop the fuel tank.

There are no obvious trolley jacking points on the rear end and I am getting conflicting advice about using the very solid looking torsion steel beam axle as a jacking point.

I would appreciate any advice as to the best/safest way to jackup the rear of this vehicle?

Thanks magna buff,

Had a look before at the pictures on this site.
It does have a nice picture of the rear beam and suspension components.
In case of interest by others - its at http://www.nolathane.com.au/product_detail.php?part_number=46115.

But nothing about using it for trolley jacking.
My guess is is that you should not use it for this purpose, as it would not be stable relative to the body of the car.
I am not a mechanic though (just handy!) hence the question what others are using for trolley jacking points.

The car does have a towbar and this may be hiding what you would normally identify as a jacking point.

jack up on the towbar
.....
only other place i would use is somewhere near the springs as close to the wheels as possible

Thanks magna buff,

I'll take your advice, and avoid this rear beam.
The tow bar seems to be the best option.
