Hi everyone, I hope someone is able to shed some light as to the possible cause of my problem in my series 2 GT.

Over the weekend on a long drive i noticed that the engine would not rev past 4000rpm when accelerating, both in auto and tippy mode. Besides this, the car accelerated normally up to this rev range, cruised normal as well.

When it hit 4000rpm it slowed, there was not aggressive cut out. However, this morning after the engine warmed up, i tried 1st gear in tippy mode and it revved beyond 4000rpm. Could something be breaking down electronically when warm/hot? Transmission or coil packs, leads?

Thanks

If your car has been serviced regulary and no error lights on your dash.....disconnect your battery.....every sensor/plug you can get your hands on in the engine bay just unplug it and plug it back in....reconnect your battery and see if it fixes your problem....

I had a similar problem late last year and I found it to be bad petrol, that is, I think it was water in the petrol I got from a dodgy petrol station.
Mine wouldn't rev past 3000rpm.
I haven't been back to that petrol station and the problem has never come back since, almost 6 months now. lol
