Who knows what Mitsubishi is referring to and what would be the cause?

The same might be printed in TE-TH manual and maybe TL and TW.

I vaguely remember that bit. It is the ABS brain going through it's wakeup sequence. (IIRC)

MadMax, I know what you mean about ABS sound. According to the manual the ABS unit makes a noise at about 15km. Also it makes sense for the ABS to go through its sequence with the car moving. On my TS I was often aware of the ABS 'calibaration' noise.

My TS did the ABS noise while stationary. lol

"Ticking" could be the ISC stepping to get to the right RPM, or just the valve lash adjusters. My TL can also rattle the PCV valve at times.
