I will be returning to Australia after about a year and I am thinking of getting another Magna/ Verada. I used to own a TJ Magna Advance. As far as I remember the car had tilt steering wheel adjustment but didn't have any telescopic adjustment.
Are there any Magna/ Verada cars with the telescopic steering adjustment? When I look at car adverts some of them seem to list this as an option while some don't.

No, none come standard with any telescopic function. You would need to import the steering box and motor from NZ as its power adjust. If you do decide this, then you would just be able to bolt the steering wheel at the interior knuckle.

I checked the specifications on redbook and a couple of other sites and found that tilt & reach adjustable steering was available on 2002 series 2 Verada models. The previous year (2001) cars had tilt only steering columns. And the bug eye models that came after also only have tilt columns. Sounds a bit strange but could their data be wrong?

Their data is wrong. No Aussie cars, from First gen to 380 have a telescopic steering wheel.

+1 I've a TJ2 Verada and there's no telescopic steering, only manual height adjustment.

Correct, no telescopic option was available in Aust. My Diamante has the telescopic set up, to be honest I do not see much use in having it as when I am in my normal seating position the wheel is in the right place in my Magna anyway, in the Diamante I dont think it would ever get used, well not by me anyway unless I want to be a tool and drive like I am sitting in the back seat that is

It's called "feature envy", try not to get caught up in it. It's a marketing ploy to get people to buy new cars, hence they are emphasized in advertising while important features like engine size, fuel economy, safety features etc are ignored.
Anyhow - trying to put all of the features of newer cars into a Magna would be pretty difficult and expensive.

No Mitsu I've ever owned had a telescopic steering column. Don't miss it. lol

I have one in the A8, and the only time it is ever used is when the car is turned off and the 'comfort exit' feature is activated (the wheel retracts and lifts)

Otherwise its always as far out as possible as I am quite tall. Magna wheels are positioned quite well relative to the seat.
