G'day all,
I've decided to try and add some style to my new TH. What body kit options are available? does a vrx/ralliart kit from TJ fit a TH? if so, what parts do I need; ie is it just a font bar, rear bar and skirts; or is a front and rear lip and skirts?

what other options are there besides TJ ralli art kit

cheers

Both VR-X and Ralliarts have wheel arch flares. You can run the VR-X kit without flares, but because of the design of the bumpers, you must run flares with the Ralliart kit. Also, the flares between VR-X and Ralliart differ.

On the VR-X, the front and rear kits are just a lip to attach to the base model bumpers. On the Ralliart, they are replacement bumpers.

There was also a third kit available (Ground Effects/Sports Wagon) but they aren't very common.

Expanding on RV's response...

There are many people more knowledgeable in this area than me (so some of this may not be 100% accurate), but I have learnt a bit of stuff from my wanders. In other words, take a look around these forums, you never know what you'll find!

To help answer your questions though, with enough money, ANYTHING will fit! (There was TH (?) going around with a Skyline kit on it at one stage.) But more logically, body parts from a TJ certainly fit a TH. This means the Ralliart (very hard to find and expensive) and VR-X (somewhat easier, but still not cheap) kit pieces do fit onto your car. There are also other kits and parts of kits that fit your car too. But for full kits, they include:

TJ VR-X

Front bar/lip (not sure what to call them); left and right side. These fit to the standard front bar via holes drilled in the bottom, the bottom splash guard thingy (I think, pretty sure this is what holds the two pieces together in the middle). There are/were VR-X specific front bar skins, but these are exactly the same as the standard bar with the holes drilled into it from the factory.
Side skirts; includes the actual side skirt and two "end caps" (also one left and one right) that go in the front wheel wells (MMAL calls them "air dams").
Rear lip/apron; left and right pods and the main rear section including exhaust hole. This attaches to the standard rear bar similar to the front bar. Essentially the VR-X was a Sports with this nicer body kit and VR-X motifs (*Jeremy Clarkson voice*).
Wheel arch flares. These flares are intended to match up to the front, side and rear parts of the body kit, but are not "required" (ie: does not look silly without them).
Rear wing. Including this for "completeness".

Notice how in the second car has arch flares, whereas the first does not. Obviously, no points are detracted from the first in terms of looks.

Ralliart

Front snowplow attachment. Some like this, some don't. (To be honest, I actually like it) Unlike the TJ VR-X front bar, this is a full item that replaces the front end of the car.
Front splitter. Attaches to the bottom of the snowplow to make it even lower and catch that pesky snow that gets stuck in gutters, concrete carpark stoppers, speed humps and steep driveways. Has the added benefit of making the plow look much nicer, too.
Side skirts. These do not have end caps like the TJ VR-X kit. (Actually, only the VR-X kit has air dams. Why? I don't know.)
Rear bar. Again, like the front bar, this is a full item that replaces the standard rear bar.
Wheel arch flares. Just like with the VR-X kit, these flares are inteneded to match up to the front, side and rear parts of the body kit, but with the kit's design, they are 1 million per cent required (ie: the kit looks a lot more than silly without them). Unfortunately they are quite rare to find.
The rear biplane airstrip — I mean wing.
Front grille. Much nicer than the standard grille that comes with all the other lowly TJ models...

Ground Effects (GE)

Front lip. Attaches to the bottom of the whole standard front bar assembly just like the one on your TH.
Side skirts.
Rear pods; left and right. I'm pretty sure that this kit originated from the TJ Sports Wagon, as they came standard with this kit (which also included the Sports Wagon wing), but the kit was also available as a "factory extra" fitted at the dealer for sedans, too. The GE kit includes two rear pods, left and right, that attach to the bottom of the standard bar. Watch out though, as these are different for the wagon and sedan (the rest is the same).
Wheel arch flares. Similar use as with the TJ VR-X kit.

Note that the whole cut into this kit for the exhaust is not standard, but cut for the tip used on this car.

Wow! thanks guys for such a detailed response. A based on this info. I'll try and track down some vrx bits.

to do this, i would need (theoretically)
2 piece front splitter thing
3 piece rear splitter
left and right skirts
4 end caps (2left and 2 right)

Sorry, I might have written part of my response a bit confusing, but there are only 2 air dams (one left and one right at the front end, nothing at the back). This is a (bad) picture of them, but you can gauge from it the size of them and what they look like. Refer to the pics of the VR-X's for where they are located (at the end of the side skirt in the front wheel wells).

Good luck with finding all the pieces of the kit.

:-) it may be hard to source a full kit together and in the right colour, but if you are smart, you buy the bits individually, I ended up getting a COMPLETE kit, minus the rear wing, who needs that anyway, for the great price of $420.00 :-)

180 for flares and skirts
100 for the front spoiler, primed
75 for the rear bar in raw
60 for the fog light covers

The above posts also neglected to mention that quite often the front bar may not necessarily have the fog light covers and these are also needed, and pricey :-)

awesome. another question, has anyone had any dramas as far as scraping the front/rear bar on speedbumps etc.
i live out of town and am worried about country road vs body kit issues.

btw, my TH isnt lowered.

What part of Queensland do you hail from? You won't have any issue with the kit on the open road.

At stock height you have to be mindful of the front lip but it's certainly not bad compared to most other unmodified cars. Speed bumps will be fine, driveways will be fine with a bit of angle - your biggest issue will be the concrete stops at the end of carparking spaces.

I hovered between Brisbane and Gladstone (and the highway in between) in my old VR-X regularly, and it sat pretty low. You'll be fine.
