that's interesting whine at 90 kms an hour.
is it only @ 90kms ..... does it go away above ?
how many km on the box
diff has bearings either side so maybe /when was last oil -filter change /.could be wheel bearings at a stretch....won't be cv joints
if it is the box its cheaper to fit another box
sure its not an engine thingy

Hi there
Pretty much starts at around 9o kms hour and stops at 100 kms hour... I'm sure it's in the transmission as if I coast in neutral at that speed it goes away. Have about 160 000 on the clock.

Sometimes get a bit of a jolt when slowing to a stop and the auto gearbox goes back through the gears... probably 3rd to 2nd... not sure if it's connected to the whining problem.

Worry if it starts below 70 km/h and continues through to 100 km/h
I would check the oil it can be red---- but thins out when hot
Tranny oil change once a year minimum-use mitsubishi tranny oil
You could add an auto tranny oil additive to the new oil at this point
I would no be surprised if some one did a tranny flush and stuffed it up- during the life of the box
a jolt when slowing may be a shift solenoid or the TPS (throttle position sensor)
Do you want to try for fault codes some time ?

Had the same whine on my TS V6 auto at 220,000 km, I put it down to the differential. If it doesn't get worse, don't worry about it.

Another problem I had with mine. lol
It is not connected to the whine.
The autobox changes down to second when you stop, and stays in second to prevent excessive creep, then engages first when you take off again. It will jolt if it decides to change to first when slowing down instead. TPS adjustment is to blame, move it slightly by hand one way - if it gets worse, move it the other way until the problem goes away. adjusting it by the book with a multimeter didn't work for me, so I used the trial-and-error method.

fault codes would be good!
