Hi All,

Over the last 2 days my TJ magna has been playing up in idling even when warm.
It sits on about 500-600 rpm normally and is a little rough but copable (doesn't threaten to stall or anything) but yesterday morning I started it and it jumped up to 1500 as per normal, but immediately jumped down to 400, back up to 1000, down to 600 etc and kept doing it until it was put in reverse.
The next time I started it, it was already warm and still did the same thing.
Today its doing it even sitting in reverse, the car is still drivable but it starting to get unbearable.

Could it be the IAC or something else. I have checked the air hoses can't see any damage to them.

Outside chance of faulty temperature sender unit, dirty MAF Sensor, Injector issues (leaky or electrical). It could be attributed to quite a few sensors, but vaccum leak or dirty EGR valve are my best guesses.

I take it no fault light is being displayed?

Correct, no fault light is being displayed.

I will check out the options that you have listed (the minor things anyway) and see if I can fix it myself, otherwise it's going to have to wait until I can afford a mechanic to look at it.
Haven't checked what it is doing today but I am going to flush the cooling system anyway and then ill give it a run.

List of things.. O2 sensor will give dash warning..MAF sensor wont (unlikely if not visibly covered in crud)..TRY THIS...LOW CURRENT FROM DISTRIBUTOR..JUST CHANGED MINE AFTER MUCH SEARCHING AND REPLACEMENT..FIXED THE SUCKER IN AN INSTANT...GOT 2ND HAND DIZZY...NO PROBS..SIMPLE TO REPLACE

Dropcat how bad was your idle?
