Hi, im thinking of installing a turbo in my magna tj, but have no clue which one would suit 3.5 engine. If anyone has done it, please tell me which one is would be better (not super expensive one if possible), what else I would need, and how hard of a job is it
Cheers

Judging by your post I'd say far to hard for you.
How hard is it? How long is a piece of string.
It's very involved. Simply finding a suitable turbo will be the least of your problems haha. Has been done many times from rough backyard jobs to proper 500+ hp builds. You need lots of money or lots of skill (and still lots of money).

One of the questions i'd like to know is WHY is it so hard?
Plenty of hack job small 4 cylinder engines floating around that can be done on quite a tight budget. What's so special about the 6G74?

Well first question is why do you want to turbocharge your car.? If you want power there is no point dropping in capacity and cylinders. If you just want a blowoff valve or wastegate noise it doesnt matter what you do as you need the power to match.
You can do a hack job but you will still spent 10k in my opinion. will be impossible to get it up and running for under that value and still have it running a year or two later. When i did mine there was no expense spared and everything was done right. There is over $20k worth of parts in my build alone. It was done 4 years ago and is still going as strong as it was when first built so that just shows you the Quality. My only issue was finding a normal clutch to hold up. Went with a few serious racing clutches with no springs and i would keep snapping the metal in the engine mounts. I now have a heavy duty EVO clutch and all is good and car is normal to drive and clutch is holding up well.
There is more to the job then just the turbo. You need ECI, Fuel System, Exhaust, Internal Engine Parts, Drive train Mods to hold up, Engineering for rego and thats just a few i rattled off. There is plenty more. If you want to do it even not full on you wont get any change out of $20k. Mine is currently making 280kw at the tyres but have had it upto 378kw atw.
Turbo $2500, ECU $2400, Fuel System $1400, Diff $1800 NSW Engineering $1200. Thats near 10k and there is no engine parts or labour. With the money that has gone into my car over the years i could of bought a late model HSV or BMW M3, But i tell you what its way more fun when a magna woops a HSV or M3 and to see there faces..:) They hang there heads in shame. Oh and The Woo in his EVO got owned good too..:)

It's not that hard, just find about $25k, plenty of places that can do the tricky stuff for you.

I agree. I once owned a Turbo TR Magna. 2.6 litres @ 1 bar of boost done with a tight budget and it was still expensive. It held up reasonably well considering but I still managed to asplode a gearbox, needed to replace CV's, blow a head gasket and find cracks in the head from being hot and getting a replacement reconditioned blah blah blah. Fortunately, I had access to a workshop, hence my costs were low. I couldn't even imagine if I had to pay for EVERYTHING how much it would total. Fun 6 years though filling up with thirty something dollars of LPG a tank.
The prices quoted here for your vehicle are very reasonable. If you really want forced induction get a supercharger. $10K done professionally. Sprintex, Rotrex etc. If you don't like the sound of these then FI is not for you and I would agree with @Danny3.0
