I have a tired old duel fuel TE executive and little to no cash, but was considering getting a newer TF or maybe a VRX or something and swapping the interiors and upgrading the specs on the car...and im wondering how much work is involved

is it possible to add ABS from a TF back onto a TE?

I know the power window looms can be done with addition of wiring to the loom in the dash, but what about upgrading the instrument cluster to have the speed warning etc is this doable easily enough?

also can the newer climate control functions be fitted up to the TE exec heater/air system?

Just trying to find ways to achieve this cheaply as i have been offered a couple of Magna's very very cheaply as parts cars and cant afford to go out and buy an AWD sports or Verada...

has anyone written any specific guides covering an interior swap? i see some specific item how toos but couldnt find anything that covered a swapout

I'm sure it is do-able, but the time and effort required to get it up and running would be huge. You'd have to run wires all over the car to make the new systems work, fit motors to all windows and sensors to all wheels for ABS. You would be much better off saving up and buying a car with all the stuff on it already. However if you have a lot of time on your hands and the know-how this could be done. Personally I'd use the time to earn some extra money and buy a car with all the gear.

interiors(seats, door cards, carpet dash etc) are easy with the dash being the most difficult. if you want a sports cluster must be series 1 and above to work with yours(manual odo)
ABS could be done, but would be a pain to wire and retrofit.
climate control can be done as well, but requires parts from a KE/F verada to work.

ideally it is always easier/cheaper to buy a car with it all but if you have access to a parts car for cheap and some time why not. you could also selll off parts you dont need/of interest to people.

There is a member on here (peaandham) who transferred all the gizmos from a KF Xi Verada into his TE. You can check it out in his build thread here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96818&p=1584667&viewfull=1#post1584667)

Seems like a fairly involved process lol

as karj above said, look at peeandham's post. Him and I both have TE's we both have done a number of upgrades including:

- power windows
- climate control
- cruise control
- Verada ETACs system(interior light delays, alarm)
- electronic boot/fuel release

some other things i have done:

-KH blackout instrument cluster with centre trip computer (had Mitsfix make the loom customized to the TE)
- rain sensing wipers with auto headlights on dawn/dusk (if you are keen, contact MSC_XI)

- ABS can be done but will be a real pain...

Speaking from exp, if you really want to upgrade your TE and are keen to do the work yourself, buy yourself a cheap Verada KE/KF Xi and swap over all the wiring. Easiest and cheapest way to do everything.

to be honest mate ,newer/higher specd magnas and veradas are selling for next to nothing now, you are better off buying one with the features you want rather than be left with 2 chopped apart cars which will be worthless.
