Guys,
I have an 84 Pajero that I have converted into an offroad hunting buggy. It has a leaded 4G54 carby astron fitted. I've already done the balance shaft and timing chains, drilled and tapped the block for the thicker tensioner bolt and got it running really well.
I also have an 89 TP SE wagon with an injected 4G54. What I would like to do is convert my buggy to injection. I have heard I will need to cut off and reverse the plenum chamber ends to put the TB at the front of the engine in the Paj. Also machine the water pump drive off the end of the camshaft.
My plan is to use the TP head on the Pajero block. Not just swap the intake manifold. This way I also get the harder ULP valve seats and hydraulic lash adjusters.
All of my driving in the Paj is in low range 4 wheel drive, mainly at night and over some fairly average terrain. I'm after a bit more power, smoother running, easier starting and hopefully a bit better economy.
I intend to give the bottom end a freshen up at the same time.
Will the injected head bolt to my Paj block? Any other dramas or pitfalls I'm likely to encounter? Can I just cut and shut the relevant parts of the TP loom in? Anything else?
I trawled the site for info but couldn't find anything that specifically dealt with this conversion so any advice, tips or knowledge from you guys will be a huge help. There's no point making a mistake that could've been easily avoided.
I will be doing all the work myself, welding, wiring etc.
cheers, mudfish.
