Tell me what you think about this system

1. MTX AMP Mono 200WRMS $299
2. Pioneer splits 6 inch 220w $279
3. Pioneer 5650 head with mp3 $399
4. Install MTX amp 85$
5. Install an existing 2 channel Rockford amp I have to power the splits $85
6. Free amp kit 2 channel
7. Install head unit $65

Wondering if I need 6'9s? if I get 6'9s would they run off the existing Rockford Moset 2 channel amp as well ?

Or should I get a alpine system for around $1499

Or should I get the Pioneer system with a powerful GM amp at 1000W and 500RMS instead of the MTX AMP...

Please help with a recommendation....I am in Perth and hope to spend about $1200 - $1400 for a MP3 deck...amp to power sub woofer and a 2 channel amp i currently already have.

I personaly dont like MTX
I would prefer the Alpine system at least you know it will be of half decent quality going for a mid range brand like alpine.
I havea fair bit of alpine stuff and I like it all. also known others who are happy with it, a buit overpriced but you get that.
Go alpine speakers and amps and Pionneer deck as I think alpine head units are to cluttered!
but thats just my opinion,,
good luck with it.

I agree with this, not a fan of MTX. i had some of there gear once and i was not happy with results. I am bit of a fusion/ clarion guy but i have had a bit of problem with fusion although they sound good. I was the first person in the world to own a FUSION late model style head unit (the MP3 one) and my luck when i put it in it didnt open up so i couldnt put a cd in :( so i got the s$%^ts with fusion and took it back and got my a full clarion setup with screens etc and it has been great. I have not had a problem with alpine i had a alpine system once and it sounded realy good.

PS, install it yourself :) much cheaper and it isnt very hard, we will help ya if ya need any advice.

I went with

Alpine 9831 deck (Like the look and the ipersonlized colour)
MB Quart DSE216 splits (heard good things about them)
Rockford Punch 3001 mono amp (bit iffy abt this one should off researched it abit more)

Guess Im paying abit much cos all up cost me $1500 but I want the best job done...

Best job done for that amount hey?

Hint; we would have charged more than that. ;)

What cable and sound deadening are they using for you champ?

^^ I am not sure...what would you recommend ?

He wanted to charge me $1650 but i had discussed it with him for a while to get it to $1500
at Alberts Hi fi in Cannington.

Im not sure about the Rockford Punch as well, in the shop the specs said something like 400rms and 285rms at 2 ohms, thats why i bought it, however now checking out some reviews on the web it seems the specs are 300rms and 150rms at 2 ohms!

Should I trade the Rockford Punch 3001 for the Alpine Mono M350 instead which is 700w max. The guys at Alberts said the Rockford was a much bigger amp but now checking the specs Im confused. Any help?

i got a 9830 and DSE216's and the setup is good, after 2 weeks or so the splits will sound abit better bass will be nicer, happy with that purchase

now i just gotta get an amp to run them off!

not to put u off but i got my deck for $500 and my splits for $290 me n mate installed them so that $790 all up i wouldnt be paying $710 for an amp but i guess they are installing it and hopefully putting some sound deadening in!

oh yeh i thik u got ur values mixed up it will have more power at 2ohm i.e 150wrms at 4 ohm and 300wrms at 2ohm

Oh yah

Alpine M350
200W x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohms
350W x 1 RMS @ 2 Ohms

Rockford Fosgate Punch 3001
150 W x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohms
300 W x 1 RMS @ 2 Ohms

So you bought something you dont know much about... With amps power isnt everything. Ha FHRX could recommend a few things that are better. :D

Went back to check out the Rockford Punch 3001 Amp and Im now okay with the purchase....It seems that I was looking at the Performance Verification certificate when it was made and tested at Rockford...apparently.

The power output stated on my certificate says

273 RMS per channel @ 4ohms <1% thd+n
410 total RMS watts @ 2ohms <1% thd+n

1230 max power

The Alberts guy also assured me this amp was much more powerful by about 3 times than the Alpine 350.

It is quite a big amp and heavy and Rockfords been in the business a while...new amps has smart sensors or something and can withstand heavy bass for long periods. I think i made a good choice.

I also checked out this link and now im very happy with the reviews

http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCP3001

Also the Punch has a remote bass control which can be hooked up anywhere in the car to control the bass levels...pretty cool !!! Once installed let you know the damage

think the difference is it has a 24db crossover slope as opposed to a 12
and it has a blue light instead of red =]
hehehe

its pretty good but i want another to sync it together

i'm running
pioneer cd player 7350
rockford 1001bd
single crossfire 15" bmf
alphine 2 channel amp not sure of model but one of the new ones
hertz front splits (front stage)
mbquarzt reference splits (rear fill) (not connected buying another amp and using alphine to power these)

Just got everything installed yesterday....The existing 2 channel amp I was going to use to power my splits actually didnt work, so had to buy a Clarion 2 channel for 250$ at the last moment...either that or the guys were gonna run it off the deck.
Have to say loud systems are really more suited to really bassy tunes and techno....when you listen to normal songs it has too much bass although the sub settings are way down low.....put on a techno song and man this system kicks ass..Alpine deck is good...but looking back I would off preferred the graphics OEL of the Pioneer 7650... One good thing about the Alpine is MX Expander feature which really makes a difference in the overall sound quality of MP3s.....
Rockford Amp 3001 really kicks hard !!!! Clarion and MBQuarts...havent really noticed anything earth shattering abt them but sometimes the MBQuarts really distinguishs a noise...its only been a few listening hours Ive had to experience so Im sure its gonna get better.
Excited though about jumping in the car....overall okay expenditure....I should off bought a 4 channel amp instead of the Clarion to run my back speakers off to, but we're talking more cash !!! sound is now good and pumping hard
