Gday,

Im having trouble replacing a broken part as i cant ID it. It's connected to the fuel injector electrics and to the throttle body via 2 thin hoses. Its mounted just above the front fuel injector rail. It has a serial number/code on it but its not a Mitsubishi part code! Ive looked through much of the gregorys manual but the images in there dont appear to have this thing so im guessing its very model specific.

The car is a 3.5L Magna TH (99) with an aftermarket LPG conversion.

Cheers

Very interesting.

Wish I could help, but I am 100% sure my 6G74 petrol motor doesn't have those parts.

Like you suggest, it must be specific to LPG

Why we are at it, what is that white plastic bottle with black lid just above the red circle in the second image?

Not LPG. Dads KJ has it and thats not on LPG.

I think its linked into traction control. But im not 100%. My TF doesnt have it nor does it have Trac control

It's the 'Evaporative emission purge solenoid'. It effectively controls the burning off of fuel vapour from the fuel canister, as far as I can tell. I think it was introduced with the TH.

EDIT: I'd also like to know what that white bottle is!

The white bottle is for the "flash lube system" which would have been fitted as part of the LPG system install.

lol Haven't seen a "flash lube" bottle installation in the wild for decades! It is supposed to feed oil into the intake manifold to lubricate the valve seats, don't think it is needed on a Magna.

Both my TJ and TL have those 2 solenoids, I bet they are available cheap from a wrecker.

Curiosity got the better of me. I went and looked, my TJ2 also has the solenoids. :facepalm

Mine appear to have part numbers, but I agree with Max, cheap from a wrecker is probably the best way to go. :)

Fantastic, thanks guys.

I'll check out the wreckers but it doesnt sound like a critical component so as last resort I may bypass it (to connect the throttle body hoses how they look in the manual without going through the solenoids.)

As MadMax said, the white bottle is for the "Flash Lube valve saver" system which feeds drops of the stuff into the throttle body and supposedly lubricates the valves. From what ive heard, its quite important for LPG converts as the gas doesnt lubricate them naturally like petrol would. Not 100% on its effectiveness but i usually have it topped up anyway.
