So what exactly have you done...?
I can see that you have a different reflector/light..
How did you take the cover of the outside of the light?

I don't like the home brand dishwashing detergent you use. I tried the cheap stuff one day and made the skin on hand peel. Morning fresh and Dawn are the way to go. :)
Anyways, with regard to your tail light, what happens to the 'reverse' light...is it just a hole now? And the bottom right part, is that a cut out of the rice style 'altezza' light...with rivets holding them in?
Anyhows, it won't look too bad i guess....unless you don't patch up the hole where your reverse light is.
EDIT: now that i've taken a closer look..did you rip apart a 'clear' tailight assembly  thought those things were expensive. Anyways, is that aluminium foil surrounding the red light down the bottom right?

There is no hole in the reverse light......its just the camera flash..
I took the whole cover off by placing the taillight in the oven for about 30 secs... took it out and gently peeled off the cover....
what i wanted to achieve was a more red than pink rear end... esp during the day, you really cant see the brake lights come on but a faint pinky color...
now during the day, the brake lights are alot more red than pink..
I stuck some aluminum weather tape inside to see if it could reflect more of the red light... but it didnt really help... so its just stuck there.

p.s eek, didnt do it at home.. went to a friends palce to do it.. not a fan of homebrand... i love my palmolive.

Has anyone ever thought to replace the standard globes with LED's from some where like:
www.superbrightleds.com
???
I mean - I had those in all the parts of my car that illimunated - Sooo much brighter, and longer laster, and plug in place directly, well worth teh money I reckon.

LEDs rule but there is a downside...they're not approved, which makes them a defect if you use them in your tail-lights, or anywhere else where you can directly see the globe. But I really cant see how anyone would know unless they took the LED holder out of the light assembly.
I think the laws have recently changed to make it even harder to have any type of non-standard lighting, I know someone who was booked last week for having blue neon light coming from his front grille, 6 months ago he was told it was fine aslong as it wasn't red or green, and you couldnt see the source. But then again I may be wrong, or it was a reason to book him.

Then how come you buy cars these days brand new with LED's tail lights - i mean LED"s brake lights spoilers have been around for years now - they aren't defectable.

flash BMW's etc have red LED rear lights.... LEDs are fine.
u just cant have red on the front of ur car
or blue or green anywhere ...
Its the colour and the 'dazzle' that will get u done... not the type of bulb.

Because they comply with ADR's. Doing a home job won't comply with the ADR's.

Unless of course you get an ADR certificate, then when a cop pulls you over and tries to defect just shove the certificate in his face :bowrofl:

Nah, that will be ok, unless they flash brightly and could give cause to 'distract the driver'.
LEDs are defectable in lights that are not designed for them due to ADRs being issued for the whole unit, including reflective material, lens bulb etc, change any one of these and its no longer legal.
BMW et al have theirs ADRed for LEDs. Stick a standard globe in and it would be a defect.

Has anyone gone to the tranpsort guys and actually got a proper cost of how much to get it approved and 4 the cert....??????? everyone's saying you can do this, cant do that...
if no ones tryed before getting it ADR approved then i'm gonna book a time this week with the transport mob. to find out the cost and everything that will need to be done.
saves all this guessing, if ya dont like the cost then putt them on illegal. hope ya dont get hit up the back cause if the person who hits ya suggests anything bout the tailights at all, insurance people will be scanning over the lights for shore so they dont have to pay you out.
so if ya pay 400 to over 1000 a year in insurance wats better the tail lights look cool
but does this sound cool not claiming $9000 or more all because of $235 lights  plus whatever you've been paying for the car to insure it since you first bought and insured it.

Frosted tail lights aren't ADR approved anyways, so replacing them with LEDs wont make them any less defectable as they are already... well... defectable. Might not be ADR approved but can be alot safer for those cruising with faint pink frosties.
