Hi Everyone,
I've got a TE Magna which has a very rough idle. My son's Magna is off to the wreckers soon. Can anyone tell me which parts would be useful to keep, (keeping in mind the rough idle), where they are located and how to remove them? My hubby and son are both good with cars so they should be able to take them out if they know exactly where to look.
Thanks :)

Sorry but is such a broad question about a car no one has seen and no one can really diagnose given is on the net I can not see how anyone can really answer this question with any reliability

A few things to take off to help with rough idle, but this is dependant on the condition of the car you're taking them off.
Spark plugs - leads, ignition gear (housing and rotor)
Personally I'd prefer new spark plugs if it was me, also bad lifters can cause a less than steady idle.
Hmm that's about all I can think of on the idle side of things.
If the cars going to the wreckers I'd imagine that the condition isn't the best meaning you should just buy the above new for a couple hundred bucks.
But like mal said, we haven't seen and don't know the condition of either car so this is all speculation

I've sent a few cars off to the wreckers. I usually put the oldest/most worn tyres I have on it, park it out on the street - it doesn't need to be running when it is picked up - and then I remove radio, battery, and anything else I may need later or think is valuable. Things like ignition & door locks, along with the electronic boxes like BEM and computer, throttle body, distributor, radiator, etc - just rip off everything you have room for storage wise and doesn't stop the car from being removed.

Thanks for your replies. Where is the computer located (is that called the ECU?) My son's car runs fine, it was written off because someone ran into the side and insurance company said the cost of repairs was more than the car was worth. My car is in good condition and been looked after, but just has the idle problem. The spark plugs have been replaced so I don't think that is the problem......

my magna had very bad idle not too long ago. ended up being a combination of the fuel pump + bad ECU. Definitely take the ECU.
I would take the ISC motor(just remove the whole throttle body) too.
The ECU is in the centre under the heater box, behind the dash. Remove is 2 bolts from the driver side, and 1 bolt from the passenger side. disconnect all plugs(4 from memory) and pull it back then slide out through the driver side. you will need to pull back the carpet to to this.
