Sorry if this has been covered, i did a search but could not find anything similar.

The central locking on my TW AWD started playing up yesterday.

If I use the remote or the key to lock the car it locks then immediately unlocks.

If I use the inner door locks I can lock each door individually. The central locking no longer works using the inner door locks.

Any ideas on what's causing the problem would be greatly appreciated

I've experienced a 'similar problem' in the past but not identical...... however on both occasions it's coincided with the car battery being on it's way out (even though still adequate to crank the car) .... also with mine I noticed it would unlock because the driver door lock button would not have sufficient juice to travel past half way and would automatically unlock again. if I physically flicked it from inside the car then it would lock every time.

I also fully lubricated all the lock/mechanisms inside the door panels with dry film lubricant and left the car out in the warm sun for a few hours to penetrate after id cycled the locks countless times. two years later it seems fine and the 'only' time it's ever happened again briefly was right before a flat battery.

I don't believe it's a coincidence ..... could be worth a check in your case. I intermittently run a CTEK charger on mine now in recon/general charge mode and no dramas since

Thank you. Battery is fine, but i'll get it tested anyway.

When using the remote the inner door locks go to the fully locked position which i assume means the locks are closing properly.

The lock mechanism/slider may well be the issue. I'll pull them apart and check them out, although i may have to wait for a few months for the warm sun :)

This problem has been covered before, seeing I experienced it and fixed it.

Bought a TL with the relevant fuse removed, when replaced the lock would respond as above to the remote.

Inside the white plastic that the door catch sits in is a sliding switch. It loses tension and the BEM doesn't get the signal that the driver's door is unlocked.
(Mine used to lock/unlock over the slightest bump while driving, all by itself. lol)

May be caused by the same issue though.

Not really. Mine was being locked with the remote, than instantly unlocking itself. At other times it would be unlocked but instantly lock itself. I had to be really quick to get in the car.'

Best thing you can do is open the door up and start looking and checking. Don't get angry and break something though!

Ah, cool, I'll definitely be pulling the door apart, when it's not freezing cold and blowing a gale.

Could it be one the door interior light switches be faulty? I don't know if they're connected to the door locking mechanism somehow? Just a thought anyway.

Checked all door, bonnet and boot switches. They are all working properly.

I think ticker70 & MadMax are right, pointing at the drivers door actuator.
