Hi does anyone use Valvoline or Nulon Full Synthetic Auto Trans Fluids SP3 compatible in their Mitsisis
would you recommend their use or is it absolutely nessessary to use Mitsubishi Diamond SP3
I have been thinking of using a full synthetic to give longer intervals between changes and maybe better changes from a cold start.
Maybe this has been covered before but I cant find much reference to it thanks.

Most dealers in Australia sell OEM fluid for about the same price, or often a bit cheaper, than Nulon etc., so sticking with OEM is basically the best way to go in all respects, though this might not be the case where you are. Before I read all the threads on this subject on this site, I briefly ran the Nulon equivalent. I didn't like the way the shifts felt though I figured it was just due to the need for the transmission to re-learn everything. After reading all the "USE OEM FLUID OR DIE!!" threads on this site I kinda panicked a bit and replaced it with OEM fluid about a month later. While the tranny still had to re-learn everything I think it got there quicker and the shifts felt more positive, though I admit that could have just been due to the good feeling of having the "right" juice in there. Not the most cost effective solution, using 8+ litres of Nulon fluid as a flush! I don't have any specific knowledge about potential problems running compatible non-OEM fluid, though others may, but without adding a cooler the stock trannies can run pretty hot which might be a factor.

Without starting a huge debate and suffering the derision of forum members who swear by OEM fluid, here are my thoughts.
I have been using Atlantic Oils Qik shift Type M in my own Magnas (TH, and two TJ's) exclusively for a number of years. I also use it at work in customer's cars. I have never experienced a drama or a comeback. Shift quality is excellent throughout the service life of the fluid. It is also cheaper than OEM fluid. None of my cars or the cars I service are fitted with an external cooler.
It is totally up to the individual what trans fluid they choose to run in their car. If it gives you a warm, happy feeling to use OEM fluid or any other fluid for that matter, that's fine, keep using it. The above is just my experience.

That oil is made specifically for Mitsubishi/Hyuandai so would be perfectly fine. I used Castrol oil that was made for Mitsubishi/Hyuandai and it was fine as well. I am however suspiscous of the mutli-vehicle oils as I'm not sure if you could make a fluid that meets dexron and SPIII specs equally as well.
Never heard of Atlantic Oils before. Looks to be a quality Australian company having a go at it. Unfortunitly no one sells their stuff in Victoria.

Jimbo, I've just had another look at their website.
You're right. there are no distributors/resellers listed in VIC. That is a great shame because they really do make some excellent oils.
There is a number on their site you can call if you or another forum member is interested in becoming a VIC based stockist.
Just a thought.
