Recently changed tyres on TJ S1 sedan that has been previously (not by me) lowered.
Went from 225/50/16 to 215/60/16. (non standard rims) as I was sick of feeling every single leaf, rock and bump in the road.

Now, on the passengers side only, the tyre is scrapping against the plastic that forms the forward wheel arch cavity boundary, (IE pieces of plastic inside the wheel arch, forward of the wheel / tyre) only when conducting right hand turns.
When level, with wheel centred, there is a lot (55mm) more clearance on RHS tyre than LHS tyre, which I find odd.

My questions are...
1) Is the plastic wheel arch (inside the wheel arch, forward of wheel) cavity boundary on the LHS the same dimensions (ie clearance from tyre) as RHS? (measured from front of tyre to plastic shroud)
2) If the answer to 1 above is YES...then is it (within reason) as simple as using brute force (man on back kicking along screw lines) to "push" the plastic and its mounts into a shape that accommodates the tyres?

Your thoughts......

On my old TJ, I found that the guard plastic had warped somewhat. You could push it towards the front of the car to give it more clearance, but then it would just pop back so it was closer. My tyres ended up wearing through it in the end lol lol

Interestingly enough though I only had this issue with aftermarket wheels (18x8, 235/40/18). With the OEM wheels (17x7, 225/50/17) I had no such issues at all.

Thanks for the info.
I will try drilling a couple of holes in the plastic shrouds, running some wire through the holes, and tying it up to create some clearance.
Thanks Red Valdez.

My sister in law hit her front of her car and the bumper was changed etc and then same thing suddenly happened like what your describing and its due to the inner plastic guard not being correctly fitted and or just left without changing which is what we suspected. Its possible perhaps that side may have been hit? Either way, its a simple fix, or just leave it and your tyre will rub through eventually :)
