I have a couple of different sets of alloy wheels for my car, and obviously the standard rim flat nuts are not suited (need the ones tapered inside the alloys I am pretty sure?). But none came with any of the wheel nuts.

I understand these are 12x1.5mm, does anyone know the cheapest place to get suitable wheel nuts from? or best to just try a few wreckers and get 2nd hand ones?

I can only recommend going to a tyre place that you trust. I did the "best guess" method on an old flacon I had when putting new rims on it...about 5km down the road the back left wheel had rattled loose and was about to go its own way...
The width of the rim at mounting point (where the wheel nut goes through) vs total thread depth is what needs measuring, as there is a formula for that. (memory fades at this point)
