For those that have done both , here is my question .....
If you had a choice between doing a heater core or doing a automatic trans replacement .
Which would you choose ?? ( the trans would have to be done without a hoist )

if you are changing trans because you are having problems with the current one, then I'll do prefer to do the trans rather then change the heat core.

Without trans = car cann't be used !!
Without heater = ..well stay with a jacket in d car but at least can still use the car

Have just purchased a Tj series 2 wagon with a dud trans cheep.
Was able to obtain a good replacement trans and kinder looking forward to the challenge .
We have had 2 tf magna sedans over 15yrs both great cars .
Between the both of those cars l had to replace the heater O ring twice , once in each.
I just want to put into some sort of perspective the job l will have in hand.
l will check over the trans in the car before l go crazy pulling it out .
But pretty shore its stuffed .
The heater in this car is fine and l was hoping that Mitsubishi may have fixed the problem in this model but reading through other threads l know l am dreaming

As soneone else has already said, no tranny no drive so it's a pretty easy choice I suppose. As a new Magna owner this is the kind of story that puts the firghtners on me lol

I've heard the heater core issue is not uncommon. Was it a constant across the models or like wave spring and some of the other issues was it less common on later models?

Its really not that hard to do the trans, even without a hoist.
Its just a bulky, fiddly, time consuming pain in the ass, but not hard.

To answer my own thread ... After completing a transmission replacement .The heater core is easier than a trans . As Old fg4 said ..( a long pain in the ass ) The only trouble l had was with the rear engine mount , both taking it off and installing . We just didn't get along .
Decado for your concern...Magnas are a great car . All makes of cars have faults , just that on forums you get lots of bad news about the cars in question.
